B.A.M.S (BACHELOR OF AYURVEDIC MEDICINE AND SURGERY)
The aim of this program is, to impart the profound and scientific knowledge of ancient Ayurved in the light of technical advances of modern medicine, to the students so that they are capable enough to serve the public by medicine and surgery.
INTRODUCTION OF THE PROGRAM: It is a five and half year program comprising:

The first professional deals with mainly 6 subjects i.e Rachana Sharir(Anatomy), Kriya Sharir(Physiology), Ashtanga Hridya, Padarth Vigyan (Philosophy of Ayurved) & History of Ayurved and Sanskrit.
The second professional includes 4 subjects: Dravya Guna (Pharmacology), Rasa Shastra-Bhaishjya Kalpana (Pharmaceutical science), Agad Tantra (Toxicology and Medical Jurisprudence) and Charak Samhita.
The third professional comprises 5 subjects: Roga Nidan evam Vikruti Vigyan (Pathology and microbiology), Swastha vritta & yoga (Preventive social medicine and yoga), Stri Prasuti Tantra (Gynaecology and Obstetrics), Kaumarbhritya (Paediatrics) and Charak Samhita.
The final professional comprise of 5 subjects: Shalya Tantra (General surgery), Shalakya Tantra (Eye and ENT), Kayachikitsa (General Medicine), Panchkarma, Research Methodology & statistics.
During internship the student gives clinical duties in OPD & IPD of Kayachiktsta, Shalya, Shalakya, Prasuti evam striroga, Kaumarbhritya and Panchkarma and casualty Section of hospital.
DEGREE TO BE AWARDED: The degree of “Ayurvedacharya (Bachelor of Ayuvedic Medicine and surgery)” is awarded by the GGSIP University after successful completion of course.
MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION: English, Hindi and Sanskrit
AFFILIATION AND RECOGNITION OF THE PROGRAM: The B.A.M.S program is recognised by Central Council of Indian medicine (www.ccimindia.org) and Dept. of AYUSH, Govt of India(www.indianmedicine.nic.in) and affiliated with Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University), Delhi (www.ipu.ac.in).
MINIMUM ADMISSION QUALIFICATION: 12 th standard with science with 50 % aggregate marks in the subjects of physics, chemistry and biology.
For foreign students any other equivalent qualification to be approved by the university is followed.
SELECTION PROCEDURE: NEET for admission to the B.A.M.S program.
INTAKE CAPACITY AND RESERVATION: 100 seats are sanctioned for the BAMS program, out of which 85% seats are reserved for Delhi students, 10% seats are reserved for students of other states and 5 % are reserved for foreign nationals.
