Delhi had four Ayurved colleges before independence, when its; population was 3 Lacs. But those colleges ceased functioning over the period of; time and till the year 2008 AD, there was only a single Ayurved College namely, Ayurvedic and Unani Tibbia College.

Sometimes in the; year 1995, it was decided by the Govt. of NCT Delhi to set up an Institute-cum-Hospital in Naturopathy/Homoeopathy. By this time, the population; is about one crore.;After the establishment of Directorate of Indian Systems of Medicine and Homoeopathy in; 1996, a plan was prepared to establish an institute named as “DELHI RAJKIYA AYURVED CHARAK SANSTHAN’’and Ninety-five acres of land was acquired at Khera Dabar, Najafgarh, Delhi-110073 in the year 1997. Later on, it was decided that an AYURVEDIC MEDICAL COLLEGE AND HOSPITAL; would be set up here. Accordingly, further action was taken, encroachments; removed and boundary wall erected. It was further decided that the Medical; College and Hospital would be an autonomous organization. As such, a Society named as “CH. BRAHM PRAKASH AYURVEDIC SOCIETY” was formed in the YEAR 2006 WITH HON’BLE MINISTER (H&FW) AS CHAIRPERSON AND PR. SECRETARY (H&FW) AS VICE-CHAIRPERSON, which was registered under Societies Registration Act, 1860. On the foundation day ceremony in the year 2007, the institute was renamed as “CHAUDHARY BRAHM PRAKASH AYURVEDIC CHARAK SANSTHAN” by the Honorable Chief Minister, Smt. Sheila Dixit, in the honor of first Chief Minister of Delhi, Late Shri Chaudhary Brahm; Prakashji. The name of the Sansthan was further modified vide two resolutions of the Governing Council of the Sansthan in the year 2008 and 2009 and now it is known AS “CH. BRAHM PRAKASH AYURVED CHARAK SANSTHAN”. Necessary amendment has also been made in the Registration Certificate issued by RCS.

The Cabinet APPROVED A BUDGET OF RS 102.87 CRORES for the Sansthan in the YEAR 2006.; Initially, the construction work was to be taken up by the PWD. But later it was entrusted to DSIIDC, which took up the construction work in the YEAR 2007. The building is almost complete. Cabinet further APPROVED REVISED BUDGET OF RS 152.82 CRORES in Feb., 2011. The Sansthan started the OPD; IN DEC. 2009 AND IPD IN JUNE. 2010 so that the HUGE PUBLIC MONEY SPENT ON INFRA-STRUCTURE IS GAINFULLY UTILIZED FOR THE SERVICE TO THE PEOPLE.
